project summary

The project involves the design, construction, and commissioning of a new thermal power plant in Tasiujaq, located 2.9 km southwest of the village and 700 m from the airport. FCNQ is responsible for civil/earthworks, concrete and steel structures, architecture, and building systems (mechanical and electrical).This thermal power plant consists of 3 generator sets and includes the following major works: Maritime transport of equipment and materials required for the construction of the new power plant, engineering design, complete construction of the access road and excavation and backfilling of the plant's foundations with granular materials (MG-112 and MG-20), supply and installation of materials and various systems including equipment related to the construction of the new diesel power plant, handling and installation of equipment provided by Hydro-Québec, commissioning and startup of the different systems.
